CONTEXT
On March 5, 2026, the European Commission published four sets of guidelines designed to support teachers and educators across key areas in digital education: using artificial intelligence (AI) and data ethically in education, promoting digital literacy and tackling disinformation, making informed choices on digital education content, and teaching high-quality informatics.
The guidelines are a flagship initiative of the Digital Education Action Plan (2021-2027) and are designed to support specialist and generalist school teachers in navigating the impact and opportunities of the digital transformation of education with confidence.
They provide practical guidance, ready-to-use classroom examples, and clear quality criteria, alongside up-to-date definitions of key concepts in digital education. Currently available in English, translations in all EU official languages will follow shortly in spring 2026.
Each set of guidelines can be explored in detail and downloaded by visiting their respective webpages:
- Updated Guidelines on the ethical use of AI and data in teaching and learning for educators
- Updated Guidelines for teachers and educators on tackling disinformation and promoting digital literacy through education and training
- Making informed choices on digital education content: EU guidelines for teachers and educators
- Guidelines for Teaching Informatics: Practical Strategies for European Classrooms
When promoting all sets of guidelines collectively, please use this link to the news item on the European Education Area.
Objectives of the promotional outreach
We invite you to promote the four guidelines on your social media channels and your networks. To assist with this, please explore and utilise our dissemination toolkit.
The key objectives of the outreach are:
- Inform your audiences: Raise awareness about the four sets of guidelines on digital education by clearly explaining their purpose and relevance for the education sector. Adapt your messaging to different groups (e.g., teachers, school leaders, educators, learners) to ensure it resonates.
- Drive traffic to the guidelines’ pages and news item: Encourage users to visit the four guidelines’ official webpages and invite them to download their full texts. When promoting them collectively, kindly use the link to the news item as mentioned above.
- Make the guidelines relatable: Show how the guidelines can be applied in real-life teaching situations and highlight how they help solve common challenges in the classroom.
Target audience
The target audience includes a wide range of stakeholders:
- Teachers, educators, school leaders, educational staff, and learning designers
- Students, learners, young people, parents and guardians
- Policymakers in education sectors
- Public sector organisations and NGOs in education and digital literacy, among others as well as the private sector, including European EdTech

We encourage you to use assets prepared by our team when promoting these guidelines. You can use the visuals and post copies provided below.
